Choosing the best platform – What you need to see?

Before selecting a platform to start your blog, it is better to know what are your needs first. If you are a beginner, all you need is a simple platform to start with. Easy setup, easy interface, doesn’t need to have a coding knowledge are the key points.

Also, you need to think about what kind of a blog are you going to start now and in the future too.

As your blog grows, you will need to add more options and features to your blog. It is always better to choose a platform that offers more flexibility with space to grow.

Always start with the correct platform. Starting with the wrong platform will make it more difficult to switch later.

Keeping all the above things in your mind, now let’s talk about best blogging platforms for 2019

1. WordPress.org

This is the most famous blogging platform among people. Started in 2003, WordPress now powers more than 30% of all the websites on the internet.

This is a free and open source blogging platform that helps you to build your desired website within minutes.

To use WordPress, you will need a hosting service provider and this is a great option if you have a plan to take the full control of your blog’s future.

With WordPress, you can add many features to your blog like forums, paid memberships, online stores etc. Also, you can display adds on the sites that you built using WordPress.

You can choose any theme among the hundreds of thousands of free themes. Also, you will have access to over 54,000 free plugins. WordPress is an SEO friendly platform.

But, you may need some knowledge to use the Wordpress. You can gain knowledge from the hundreds of thousands of guides available on youtube.

The software is FREE. But you will need a domain and a hosting service to install the WordPress.

2. WordPress.com

This is the same as WordPress.org and also the company been started by wordpress.org co-founder Matt Mullenweg.

The difference is, WordPress.com offers free hosting service to the bloggers. Which means, you can host your website on the wordpress.com for free without needing to buy a separate domain name and a hosting service.

The company was started in 2005 with the purpose of letting Wordpress experience to a large audience.

The platform is easy to use and manage. You don’t need to set-up the software. The only problem is, you always will have a sub-domain. For an example, your website will look like https://yourname.wordpress.com

The down-side is, you always will have limited options to extend your site like you cannot use custom themes and plugins to customize your blog. Also, you cannot monetize your blog by running advertisements. Instead, wordpress.com will show their adds on your site.

The blog do not belong to you. WordPress.com bears the ownership of your site.

If you are an experienced blogger, then it is always to use WordPress.org with a dedicated hosting service and a domain name.

3. Wix

Third in my list is Wix.

This is also a hosted platform to build websites. Drag and drop tools help people to easily create their website. By adding the Wix Blog app, the users can add a blog to their website.

This is a platform founded in 2006 with the purpose of allowing people to create their websites without needing any complex coding knowledge. Recently the Wix platform is having more than 100 million users around the world.

In the Wix platform, you have the ability to customize your website using dozens of templates and third-party apps. You don’t need to have any coding knowledge to build your website. Drag and Drop feature will give you more flexibility when building your site. Also, the setup process is very simple.

The downside is, Wix shows their adds on your site and the free third-party apps are limited. After selecting a template, you can’t change it later.

4. Blogger

The 4th one is Blogger.

This is one of the earliest blogging platform started in 1999 by Pyra Labs and later Google acquired it. Blogger offers a quick and easy way to start a blog for free.

With your google account, you can start a blog here.

This is also a free and easy platform to manage. Since this belongs to Google, the security level is pretty high.

The downsides are, the blogging tools are very limited ones. Also, you can’t add more features as your blog grows. Design options are very limited with fewer templates. Google can suspend your blog anytime without giving warning.

5. Medium

5th and last one in my list is Medium.

After started in 2012, recently the popularity of Medium has grown very much. A lot of writers, journalists, experts, and bloggers are using Medium for their blogging needs. The platform is very easy to use.

Recently the Medium is very popular among the Cryptocurrency Bounty hunters. Their reviews about projects are published on Medium.

With Medium, you can’t use your own domain. Instead, it provides you a profile url.

The downsides are, the features are very limited compared to above-mentioned platforms. Typically Medium suspends accounts for no reasons sometimes. I have personal experiences about it. Especially when you publish Crypto related articles. You cannot run ads to monetize your blog here.

Ok. Those are the best blogging platforms for 2019. If you know any other platform other than above-mentioned platforms, please leave a comment.
